1.Background Story

Background Story

Like most people in the world, you go through the same routine every day. Never expect something special would happen at all...

One weekend, you found a paper falling out from an old book in a library. Being tired of doing the same thing every day, you decided to see where that sheet is going to lead you to.

Before you realize what happened, you are already in a totally different world and the gate behind you was blocked. It’s a world full of unknown to you. All you know is that you need to find a way out, or die here because there is no way back!

2.Introduction

Introduction

This Boardgame is for 1 to 2 players who are 12 years old or more. Its playtime is around 60 to 90 minutes. Each game is a story and different stories are related. There is a main package and an expansion. The goal in the game is to gather all the journals and open the exit gate.

In the game, you will become a stranger in a mystic world. You will find pieces of journals scattered around the world. Those journals include details of how the author survived through all the dangers there. In addition, they provide specific clues that will help you escape.

This journey involves lots of traveling, searching, and fighting. You will have missions, pick up new skills, sometimes even step into traps. To deal with the situations, you will need to test your ability by rolling dice.

During the game, you will go through rounds again and again. There are four phases in a round.

Player phase

  • you(players take turns) will take multiple actions in this phase. You can travel around, search around, confront creatures, or use skills you have learned during the exploration.

Enemy phase

  • creatures will make their moves in this phase. They will try to approach or attack you.

Equip phase

  • after all the creatures make their moves, you(players take turns) will need to prepare for the next round.

End phase

  • a round ends with checking if everything is set for the next round to begin.

The game proceeds in the cycle mentioned above till the end of the game.

4.What to Begin with

What to Begin with

To begin with, there are some rules you need to know first, Then, to initiate the game, the setting is important. The game could easily become messy if all the parts aren’t set appropriately. There are 2 steps to complete the setting. First, you have to collect different types of cards into decks. Then, the real setting comes after that.

Rule-

Journals

5.How to Proceed

How to Proceed

As is unveiled in the introduction, the game will be cycling among 4 phases. Please nominate a player as leader first, Click on the words in purple to see more

flow.png

After the game setting, the game always starts with the player phase. In the player phase, You(each player take turns) will have 4 chances to execute 1 of the following actions. The leader takes 4 actions, then the next player continues. The phase is over when all players finished taking their actions.

In this phase, all creatures on the map will do 1 of the following actions according to how far they are. The leader will move 1 creature at a time and turn the creature face down after the action. When all creatures on the map are face down, this phase is over.

In equip phase, you(each player take turns) prepare for the next round. When all players are finished, this phase is over.

This phase is to wrap up the round. After the leader check all the steps in sequence, this phase is over.

You can exchange the skill you don’t want with other player in this phase

Keeping track

Anchor 1

There are many scenarios that you will need shards in the game. If you feel like shards scattering all over the table, you can use your phone to scan the QR code down below. It helps you to keep track of your current status so the only situation you need for shards is when setting traps.

6.How to End

How to End

As you gather more and more journals, you will eventually know how to open the exit when you find it. Also, please be aware that some of the bosses are required to be defeated. That is to say, there are 3 key requirements you need to fulfill to end the game:

  1. Gather all journals

  2. Defeat the bosses that have star signs on their boss ability card

  3. Open the exit gate

After all 3 requirements are done, the ultimate goal is that when the exit gate is opened, all players that are still alive stay at the area where location: exit gate is after the round ends(after the end phase). any player who loses all its health points is considered dead and the player has to quit the game. If all the players died, the game is over. After a game is finished(if you win), you have to do the game setting for the next story but the status remains the same( such as the creatures’ level, your equipment, your shards, and your skills).

To sum up

In the game, your goal is to search for all the journals and find the exit gate.

In the player phase, you have to search as much as you can. However, you can’t always search the same area so you must travel to different places in order to search for more. Then, you will inevitably come across dangers when traveling. You need to deal with those dangers, and you can use skills if there are too many dangers you need to deal with.

In the enemy phase, you have to make sure every creature has done an action and face down.

In the equip phase, all the players re-select the 5 skill cards holding in hands and other preparation.

In the end phase, you make sure all the steps are checked.

When you meet all the requirements to end the game and successfully open the exit gate, you just have to make sure all the players alive stay in the area where the exit is. After all the steps are checked in the end phase and there are still players alive, the game is finished and you win!
